Pastor’s Pen – October 3, 2016

On Sunday, September 18th, we celebrated our 25th church anniversary with a record attendance of 335. The aim was to magnify the Lord for His faithfulness to us through the years. The theme verse was: “That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ” (Ephesians 1:12).  We praise Him for 2 souls saved!

Pastor Dennis Seely from Cornerstone Baptist Church in Carbonear, Newfoundland, preached a stirring sermon at 10am while Pastor William Adams preached at 11am on the subject: “The Next 25: Now What?”  His text was based on Jesus’ commendation to the church at Thyatira in Revelation 2:19.

A number of  “old timers” were back to renew the wonderful memories of years past.  Among those items given out were special anniversary coffee mugs and the latest edition of The Anchor.   On the walls and hallways were placed pictures depicting the people of VBC throughout the years.   The food and fellowship were a bountiful blessing.  The 30 member choir special under the direction of Pastor James Hird and pianist Christal Adams was inspiring while the congregational singing was very enthusiastic.

Now that these 25 years are behind us, we press onward, by His grace, endeavouring to fulfill His purposes in the next 25, should He tarry.

On Saturday, September 24th, our church family went to Albion Hills for a time of food, fun, and fellowship.  The highlight of the event was at night hearing the testimonies around the bonfire while we sang and heard instruments play.

On Sunday, November 6th, Missionary to Belize, Daniel Dinsmore, will be with us at 10am and 11am.

On Sunday, December 4th, we will hold our annual Christmas Cantata at 11am.  This is a Christmas play with actors and special music.  All are invited to help us celebrate the birth of our Saviour.
