Pastor’s Pen – April 27, 2016

Wednesday, April 27th, 2016

Revival Services are being held with Evangelist Max Alderman starting this Sunday, May 1st.  There will be choir numbers, special music, refreshments, and a supervised nursery provided at each service.  The times are as follows:  Sunday, 11am and 6pm; Monday, 7pm; Tuesday, 7pm.  There is no mid-week service that Wednesday.  We invite you to come and join us as we all seek the Spirit ’s stirring in our midst.

On Sunday, May 8th, we will celebrate Mother’s Day.

On Sunday, May 15th, we are holding our first Friend Day and BBQ of the warmer season.  There is no evening service that day.

On Sunday morning, June 19th, Missionary in Bolivia Jake Wiebe and his wife will be with us.  He will be teaching the men at 10am while his wife Sharon speaks to our women.  He will preach at 11am.  That evening at 6pm, we are holding the graduation of our grade 8 students in the Vaughan Baptist Christian Academy.  I will be preaching that evening.

We had a number of our people attend the Bible Conference in early April at FaithWay Baptist Church in Ajax and then 12 of our men attended the Men’s Retreat in St. Thomas later in April sponsored by the Bible Baptist Church.  We received true spiritual challenges from each of the preachers in these conferences.

The Vaughan Baptist Christian Academy will be beginning its fourth year.  Enrolment season is now open and we are taking applications for the September, 2016 semester for students in grades 1 – 9.  With a current enrolment of 14, we have 1 new student enrolled so far for September.   Any questions can be directed to Principal Daniel Bousquet.

Finally, let me remind you of our 25th Anniversary Service scheduled for Sunday, September 18th.  We have a number of special things planned for this day as we will celebrate the goodness and grace of God upon us.  We will reflect upon His faithfulness, not our failures.

As I preached this Sunday, may the Lord help us to focus on “that day” (2 Timothy 1:12) and to remember that in “this day,” we are not to be on a pleasure cruise ship but on a barge, toiling, sweating, and labouring while it is day.  May God’s richest blessings be upon you.
