Pastor’s Pen - September 21, 2009

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Yesterday, we endeavoured to honour the Lord and to thank Him for His goodness and grace to us for the past 18 years. We celebrated our church’s 18th anniversary with a record crowd of 288 with five folks raising their hands for salvation. 80 pizzas were devoured and the dessert table was cleared!  Every children’s Sunday school class, the nursery, and the Junior Church were packed.  We needed four different parking areas to accommodate the crowd. Our search for a much-needed larger property continues. The Lord gave us a sunny day, an enthusiastic congregational-singing day, and Spirit-filled day. For all of this, we say, “To God Be The Glory.”  I sincerely thank each one who came. Your presence truly blessed me and I thank God for every one of you.

This Wednesday night at 7pm, my expository teaching series through Hosea continues. There is a nursery and classes for the children. Prayer groups will follow - with much to pray for!  Every Christian needs this mid-week rest and revitalization stop.

This Sunday morning and evening, I am preaching topical messages with a new expository preaching series from 1 Peter beginning soon on Sunday mornings. Our adult, teen, and children’s Sunday school classes continue at 10am.

I was away for two weeks in the United States, preaching three times.  My wife and I had an opportunity to visit with family and friends while there.

Our church family is extremely busy making preparations for our 18th Anniversary service this Sunday at 11am.  Workers are busy on the inside and outside of the church property.  Fifteen families are distributing 3,000 John and Romans in Woodbridge, Maple, and Kleinburg this week as well.

If you are reading this, please take this as your personal invitation to attend this celebration service.  We have ordered 80 pizzas and our people are bringing drinks and desserts.  I have purchased a number of books which we will be offering at cost.  There will be special music and enthusiastic congregational singing.  I am preaching a special sermon for this occasion.  There is no evening service this Sunday.

Please join us in prayer that this will be a Spirit-filled service where Christ is exalted.  Our theme is: “To God Be The Glory.”  It goes without saying, that anything accomplished here in eighteen years is by Him and Him alone!

Sunday school for children, teenagers, and adults is at 10am and there is always a nursery staff for every service.

In a few weeks, I begin a new expository preaching series on Sunday mornings from 1 Peter.  Our Missions Conference is scheduled for Sunday, October 18th, with Missionary Pastor Denis Celestine from Grenada, West Indies.  Wednesday services continue at 7pm with the adults in an expository study of Hosea.  There are also classes for the children.
