Church History

Here is a brief history of the Lordís working in our midst.

The Lord guided me to northwest Metropolitan Toronto to plant the Vaughan Baptist Church (VBC) in the fall of 1991. I was sent out of the Rosedale Baptist Church in Hammonton, New Jersey and sponsored into Canada by the FaithWay Baptist Church in Ajax, Ontario.

By the grace of God, souls were saved and a community building rented for approximately three years. As the Lord added and provided, in the fourth year, a church building was rented at our present site. A year later, this building was purchased.

In December of 2005, a new sanctuary was completed at the back of the one acre property. We are currently pursuing a larger site within the City of Vaughan to expand our church ministries, including the establishment of a Christian school.

Presently, about 200 people call VBC home. Every inhabited continent and many nations of the world are represented in our congregation. Though most reside in Woodbridge, Maple, and Kleinburg, a number of families come from Bolton, Brampton, North York, and beyond.

We have united together to glorify our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. Our purpose is to faithfully fulfill His commission to the church (Matthew 28:19-20), to seek the salvation of souls, to baptize those converts, and to nurture them into mature disciples.

You can surely find bigger churches. You can locate churches with better facilities. You can discover churches with more ministries. But, we believe, youíll not find a more friendly and down-to-earth church. We are a family of friends and a friend to families. VBC is a mosaic of people from many cultures and religious backgrounds. We are a people who have experienced the grace and goodness of God. Here youíll find us rejoicing in the forgiveness and mercy of a loving and compassionate Saviour. For many, VBC is the first Bible practicing church they have attended. No matter your background, youíll find a church here where youíll be accepted, appreciated and needed.

Thanks for visiting us at our website, but please come to the church for a personal visit. Join with us as we write a history in this part of Metropolitan Toronto, not on the internet, but in the inner man of how Christ can transform a lost soul into a purposeful and passionate disciple overflowing with peace and joy!

Wishing you His best,

Pastor Adams
